Today I called my sister and she told me that my cousin is in hospital. I have not seen or heard from him for more than ten years, but this bad news came within days. He was the one I loved to talk during the long birthday celebrations of my childhood. Somehow we lost contact during the years. He moved away. I moved away. We were not longer interested in coming to family birthdays. Last time I saw him was at the funeral of our Granny. We had a lot of fun and laughter at the funeral, our Granny had died at an old age and was a funny crazy person who lived her life. But afterwards I saw a lot of my relatives not again. You know - we are only meeting for funerals and marriages now. And nobody married (well, I did but without a party so there was no get together) , but I would prefer a marriage to a funeral to see my relatives again.
The first day of May is celebrated as day of work here in Germany. It is an offical holiday and there are speeches to be heard and so on.
My hubby is going on the 1st of May on a walk with his friends from university. I joined him several times, but hey, they walk about 25 km and I am not good in walking (or any sports) so today I decided to stay home.
My health is improving, I had some nose bleeding this night and still some coughing but in general I feel much better than at the beginning of the week.
For anyone staying in the Hannover area next weekend:
When you like plants visit the Hannoversche Pflanzentage. They take a fee of 4 Euro/person and it is really worth the price. I went there several times the last years and altough I never bought much- we do not have a garden - I enjoyed it each time.
Another enjoyable thing is to watch the marathon. Be sure to check before which streets are closed due to the event.
