You rembember I said I wanted to sew something in Liberty print japanese style?
Today I finished it - well, I had to fight a bit with the binding, coz I have never done that before, but I believe it is wearable, what do you think?
I was asked recently if I have any formal education in paiting, sewing and so on and how long it takes me to make something.
Well, I do not have any formal education in painting, sewing and so on. I had a lot of luck to be able to attend a free creative course two times a week at my school after my normal schoolhours from 7th to 13th grade. The teacher stayed longer and helped us for free. A beautiful - now allready dead - lady. We had a nice group high under the roof of my school - building. During that time I was teached how to knit with a knitting machine (still can not do it by hand - I have to admit). I did a lot of silk-painting - I think I painted so much scarves all my relatives must still have a lot of them. I did macramee and I learned to sew. It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed every minute of it although I came home late coz of it. And that is the reason I still have a problem with two dishes. My mother alterated between these on these days for years - coz they were easy to heat in the microwave - I still can not get myself to them (Nasi and Bami Goreng - if you are interested).
And I was alltimes encouraged to work at home. I made clay brooches when I was 12 years old. I had a place in our local shop who sold them on provision.
During holidays I did nearly each day something from patchwork to silkpainting to clay during my schoolyears.
I thought about going to university to get more educated and become a teacher of art and biology, but my parents wanted me to learn something real. So now I have a bachelor degree in something that has nothing to do with art.
Well, in my free time I still love to play with colours and fabric. My first attemps do not alltimes get me where I want to get so it takes sometimes several tries to get something done. My paintings take me one night after work each, a bag takes a bit longer. I get faster when I know how something works. I am really scared sometimes when I try something new, but with getting used to it it gets much easier.
... I alltimes get everything. This time terrible nosebleeding both sides. Yes. And not the amount was scarrying me, but that I had a headache and I felt two night in a row like blood running down. I was scarred and Doc told me to stay at home for the week when I finally visited him on Tuesday.
Now I am allready feeling a bit better after a lot of sleep and a lot of vaseline for my nose.
Today I started dressmaking again. Oh my, it is ages ago I last sew something for myself to wear that fitted. I bought some liberty fabric from UK and a sewing book from Japan for big girls.
Now I have started to cut the parts out. I hope it will fit coz I really need some summer pieces, soon.
I hope to finish it next weekend.
Do you buy your clothes or do you make them yourself?
I loved this weekend. After a not so good week (health wise) it was so great to meet friends. Like alltimes I wanted to do more than I finally did this weekend. Now it is nearly 12:00 pm and my to-do-list is still not done, but hey, that's most weekends so. Do you know this, too?
Tomorrow (in about 6 hours) I will leave for work again. Coming back home next friday. I still have to pack some things. Alltimes on the last minute - that's me.
It is not always a beautiful garden,
there are things I would be grateful not to have in my life.
Sometimes I seem not to see the flowers between the weeds,
than a little wind comes and the beautiful smell let me look around
and I see the flowers again.
Well, I am not crazy, I ordered some Liberty fabrics from shaukat/uk. And I hope the books I ordered from Japan will arrive soon, coz I want to start sewing my own wardrobe. Well, maybe my hubby is right to call me a bit crazy.
